Santa Fe Community College (SFCC) provides an excellent educational experience for those interested in becoming a Software Engineer. The college offers a variety of courses from an Applied Computer Science Associate of Arts (AA) degree to Technical Certificates in software engineering.
Students enrolled in the AA degree are trained in problem solving, advanced programming, networking, operating systems and more. They complete their studies with a strong foundation in programming languages and other computer science topics. As part of the degree, students are required to complete a capstone project, in which they develop their own software application.
The Technical Certificate program is designed for individuals who already have some knowledge of computing, but would like to increase their skillset in software engineering. This program offers a specialization in either Engineering Analysis or Systems Design, during which students build upon their existing programming knowledge. Students complete projects that apply software engineering techniques and practices, such as object-oriented design, software integration, user interface design, and system testing.
Whatever academic route an individual takes, SFCC provides the tools for success. Small class sizes allow for a more personalized learning experience, and the college’s rich support services provide additional help when needed. Additionally, SFCC’s Career Services Department helps students prepare for job interviews, resumes and so much more. With SFCC’s commitment to excellence and dedication to student success, graduates leave with the knowledge and confidence necessary to become a successful software engineer.
