In order to be accepted into the program, students must first have a high school diploma or GED. They must also have strong math and science skills, a strong interest in software systems, and the ability to communicate effectively. Once accepted, students can choose from several certificate and associate degree programs.
At HCC, students can choose from an Associate of Applied Science in Computer Science and/or Software Engineering Technology, as well as Certificates in Software Development, Software Design, Database Development, and Web Development. These courses focus on teaching students essential programming languages, databases, and web technologies, as well as helping them learn the principles of software engineering.
In addition to the class instruction, students at HCC must complete internship experiences and practice real-world applications of their skills. This helps students gain hands-on experience and develop the professional skills necessary to succeed in the software engineering field. Plus, all graduates of HCC's Software Engineering Program receive job placement assistance from the college's Office of Career Services.
HCC is also known for its award-winning faculty and staff, who are dedicated to providing quality education to all students.
