About

East Mississippi Community College (EMCC) is a comprehensive public community college in Scooba, Mississippi that offers quality software engineering education. It is one of the few colleges in the region to offer software engineering courses and programs. EMCC’s software engineering program is designed to teach students the principles and techniques used in developing software applications. Students learn various programming languages such as Java, C++, and Python, as well as the software development process, database management systems, application security, and computer networking.

In addition to technical skills, the program also focuses on helping students become productive members of the software engineering profession by teaching them fundamental concepts such as software quality assurance, project management, and customer service. Upon completion of the program, graduates will be prepared to enter the workforce as software engineers or move into higher-level positions in companies of all sizes, from small startups to large enterprises.

At EMCC, the software engineering program is divided into two degrees: an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Software Engineering and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Software Engineering. The AAS program emphasizes practical and project-based learning, with coursework centered around developing and testing software applications. Graduates of the AAS program are prepared to take entry-level software engineering positions. The BS program is more research-focused and prepares students for positions in larger organizations. In both programs, students gain a broad understanding of software engineering processes and technologies, as well as the ability to analyze, develop, and maintain software applications.

EMCC also offers other course options such as non-degree, certificate, and continuing education courses. These courses are designed to allow students to explore different aspects of software engineering and learn new skills without having to commit to an entire degree program.

East Mississippi Community College provides quality software engineering education and a range of options for those looking to enter the software engineering field. With their knowledgeable faculty and flexible programs, EMCC is the perfect place for aspiring software engineers to get the training and experience they need to succeed.
